Speciality Doctor Acute and General Medicine
NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to recruit an additional hard-working and enthusiastic candidate to a Speciality Doctor Acute and General Medicine.
This is a mixed General (Internal) Medicine and Acute medicine post. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the general medical on call rota (senior tier) around one evening per week and weekend day shift cover (around 1 weekend every 6-8 weeks). There is no planned nightshift commitment. The post will include day time duties in acute medicine (medical assessment, ambulatory emergency care unit and high dependency unit) as well as some rotational duties on the down-stream specialty wards as indicated by either service or training requirements. The post-holder will always be under the direct or indirect supervision of a consultant.
Proposals for additional SPA time from applicants are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non-DCC/SPA activities, the Board is supportive of applications for additional SPA time from individuals with well-developed ideas for improving services who are able to demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), Medical Education, Research & Development, acting as an Appraiser, etc. Applicants who are able to demonstrate a commitment to any of the above or other areas and wishing to commence on more than 1 PA for SPA duties should discuss proposals with the identified Recruitment Lead and/or Service Manager who will consider the request in line with the successful candidate’s professional and service requirements.
