About The Organisation
Here at NHS Lanarkshire, we put the patient at the heart of everything we do. Each colleague within the organisation plays a key role in how we deliver our healthcare services.
We proudly serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in both North and South Lanarkshire. NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.
The Role
NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking pharmacy leader to join University Hospital Monklands (UHM) as Principal Pharmacist – Clinical Services. This is a rare opportunity to lead the delivery and transformation of clinical pharmacy services within a major acute hospital while influencing pharmacy strategy and service development across NHS Lanarkshire.
As the clinical pharmacy lead for UHM, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio of specialties, including renal medicine and infectious diseases. You will lead and inspire a highly skilled team of specialist and advanced clinical pharmacists, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred pharmaceutical care while driving innovation, quality improvement and clinical excellence.
The post also incorporates the role of Deputy Head of Pharmacy, providing senior leadership within a diverse pharmacy department of approximately 100 staff delivering a wide range of specialist services, including aseptic services. Working closely with the Head of Pharmacy, you will contribute to departmental strategy, workforce development, operational performance and service sustainability, while supporting the continued evolution of pharmacy services to meet future healthcare challenges
In This Key Role, You Will
As a key member of both the pharmacy and wider hospital leadership teams, you will provide highly specialist pharmaceutical advice to the UHM Management Team, Heads of Pharmacy and Director of Pharmacy. You will work collaboratively with medical, nursing and operational colleagues, championing medicines optimisation, patient safety and clinical governance while supporting the delivery of high-quality, sustainable healthcare services.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare through the Monklands Replacement Project. You will help shape and implement innovative clinical pharmacy services within a new hospital environment, developing modern models of care that maximise the contribution of pharmacy to patient outcomes and service excellence.
We are seeking an experienced clinical pharmacist with substantial acute care expertise, a strong track record of leadership and service development, and a passion for improving patient care. You will be an inspiring and credible leader with the ability to develop people, build effective partnerships and deliver meaningful change within a complex healthcare environment.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious pharmacy leader to influence strategic direction, shape the future of clinical pharmacy services and make a lasting impact on patient care across NHS Lanarkshire
