Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Pharmacist – Surgical Services within our Pharmacy Department based across both University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse sites
Hours:
36hours per week.
Core hours between 08:30 – 16:30 Monday – Friday. The post-holder shall participate in weekend, public holiday and late night rotas.
This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Job share will be considered for this post.
UK Driving Licence:
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do:
The successful candidate shall lead on the delivery of clinical pharmacy services provided to surgical inpatient areas and pre-operative assessment clinics across both acute sites. The post-holder will lead a team of clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacy technicians providing highly specialised expertise to specialties including trauma and orthopaedics, urology, bariatric and general surgery in addition to pre-operative assessment clinics. This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to review clinical pharmacy service provision to identified specialties and maximise the impact of pharmacy teams. This will involve patient prioritisation, pharmacist prescribing, ongoing development of the clinical pharmacy technician role, service re-design and discharge pathways. In addition the post-holder will have the opportunity to participate in the clinical pharmacy service provision to critical care units across both acute sites as part of team rota.

Criteria
Essential
Master of Pharmacy Degree or Equivalent
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Post-Registration Foundation Programme for Pharmacists (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level)
Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or RPS Core Advanced Curriculum (or demonstrable evidence of clinical knowledge equivalent to that level, or currently working towards this qualification)
Practice certificate in pharmacist prescribing (or currently working towards this qualification)
Essential
Relevant clinical pharmacy experience at a senior level
Evidence of experience in service development and an ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement
Experience in teaching, education and training
Desirable
Recognised designated supervisor for trainee pharmacists, or pharmacists or pharmacy technicians undertaking further qualifications.
Experience with electronic prescribing and administration.
KNOWLEDGE
Expert knowledge and understanding of standards and guidelines
Knowledge of IT systems in relation to electronic prescribing and administration
Advanced interpersonal and influencing skills
Advanced communication skills
Self starter
Able to work unsupervised
Car owner/driver with full driving licence
